CandidHams Update | NC Photography and Design

Hello, hello, hello!

NOPE…I have NOT been abducted by aliens (this time).

It HAS been quite a while since I last updated my poor, neglected, still-a-work-in-progress blog here at

[I'm very sorry, Blog]

I just wanted to write a little something and explain where I’ve been, what’s been happening, why I disappeared for a while…and then I’ll finish this post up with what’s happenin’ now, where I’m going, and what I’m a doin’! =)

For those of you who don’t know, I’ve got my fair share of back problems …[scratch that. I've got enough problems with my spine for the German Geriatric Gymnast Club of America] from a combination of multiple auto accidents as well as fibromyalgia, DDD, spinal stenosis, sacroiliitis…and a partridge in a pear tree.  Well, whenever the weather gets bad or I get stressed or it gets humid or I sleep the wrong way or…the grass grows [hee hee], it causes painful flare-ups that I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy.  I’ve had more than my usual share of flare-ups in the last 6-8 months, which, though I still try, makes it hard to sit processing photos or designing graphics for any length of time.  On the same subject, I’m seeing a new specialist for the aforementioned hypochondriacal-sounding list of ailments (that no one my age should have) as well as for the fact that I’m now having limited mobility in my neck coupled with nasty shoulder pain. Doc is pretty certain that a couple vertebrae in my neck have [had the audacity to spite me and become] herniated. [yay me!]

(I go for a full spine MRI this week.  Did I mention I’m claustrophobic?)

Anywho — that’s been a major downer for me, and something that has put a wrench in my work wheels as of late…much to my chagrin.

Besides all that hokeypokey, four out of the five computers I own took a stinky one after the other.  My already backed-up to-do lists pretty much self combusted (as did my sanity) when this happened.  I could live without my netbook (sort of – my design/photography work desktop has no internet access), 5 yr old dell notebook, old hp laptop, etc…but when my new gateway desktop super duper ‘puter gave me the blue screen of death one day and then subsequently and repeatedly tried to tell me I had no hard drive, I grabbed the shovel and started digging.

…thankfully, I’m very much a computer geek-ess, and with a little help from my fellow-geek-friend, Terry, we have all of them up and running. (my hubby uses one. Yes…I use 3. Be quiet…they all serve a purpose…pfft@!)

My now almost 17 month old-but-looks-like-a-36-month-old, son Cheytan finally decided he wanted to walk…and BOY IS HE! Needless to say, he keeps me VERY busy. I’ll be posting new photos of him soon.

Some of you who had extra time on your hands [wink] may have read on my About Me section, in the ‘Novella’, that my background is actually in graphic and web design (going on 15 years of it, actually). So, I’ve also been doing a bunch of small web and graphic design projects which, if you’ve ever been there, can take up quite a bit of time.

Lastly, and most recently, the angel of a woman…

…who I love with all of my heart,

…who raised me from the age of 3 months,

…who I spent 3/4 of my childhood with,

…with whom I spent time several days a week throughout my adulthood until I moved from NJ to NC three years ago,

…who I (and any/everyone who knew her) called ‘Grandma’…

…passed away very recently. Unfortunately, due to reasons I can’t even begin to fathom (for which this is the improper forum to discuss), I was never notified and found out from a friend 3 days after she passed.  I could write a book (and probably will) on this, but there’s a time and a place for everything….

She would have been 100 years old in January.

Rest In Peace, dear Grandma. January 10, 1911 – June 3, 2010. You were a mother and a grandmother to MANY lost and abandoned children, and we are ALL better individuals for having been lucky enough to be loved by you.

Now you know where I’ve been – so let me tell you, briefly, where I’m going.

To keep it short:

Keep a eye out for a new design team offering not only photography, but custom website, WordPress, logo, marketing, branding, identity kit design, tutorials, tips, free lightroom presets, custom blog themes, custom web and flash templates, photoshop actions …and more.

But until that is officially launched, if you need any of the above, please shoot me an email: candidhams[a] gmail[DOT] com.

I hope you’re all caught up.  I’ll try to keep this, here, photography blog up to date as much as possible!

…and to all a goodnight.
